Imagine peering into a star filled sky without
urban light pollution.

rural countryside the sky is basically free from
light pollution. On a moonless silent winter's night
when the heat does not disturb the air, the stairs
are brilliant. If you wait just a few minutes for
your eyes to get adjusted, you might be lucky enough
to see a meteor pass quickly and silently overhead.
In the summer, on a clear cloudless night the
stars, planets and moon
are visible as you walk along the county road
listening to the cicadas sing their songs of the
warm summer days and the fireflies flashing in the
darkness of the night. It is magic for people used
to living
in large urban areas.
In the early morning or
evening, if you are really quiet, it is not unusual
to see a mother doe with her herd or a flock of wild
turkeys ahead or beside you on the road.
